GURFC Fall 2023 Fundraising

Georgetown University Rugby Football Club is fundraising for its fall 2023 season to cover the costs of various aspects vital to the operation of the club.

As a Club, safety is the lead priority and the majority of the funds will be applied to ensure this is maintained. In addition, the Club has ambitions to play competitive Rugby and to qualify for the National Championships in Houston this year. After the unprecedented success of the 7’s season in the spring where the team qualified for the televised semifinals of the National competition in Maryland, the 15’s season is underway and we are planning on similar success. To adequately prepare for the season and support these efforts, the Club needs to raise $9,000 to cover the following necessities:

Once received, the funds will be deposited into the Club bank account. The amount budgeted ($9,000) is approved by the Club treasurer and has been drafted in consultation with the coaching staff and is available for scrutiny upon request. Note further that all spending of these funds raised requires approval from the Club Treasurer and at least two of the coaches. This ensures that the funds are applied appropriately and equitably for the Club.

In the event that the Club achieves the goal of qualifying for nationals in Houston, the Officers will send out an additional fundraising request as this will include flights, accommodation and meals for the players.

*As a final note, we’d like to mention that the University has provided a budget of $8,000 for the year (July ’23 – June ’24). This amount covers a portion of transportation however the full transportation costs for the season are expected to be $10,000 in total (buses, gas, vans). This is the reason we are including transportation in the budget.

The balance will be transferred to the Friends of Georgetown Rugby 501c3 account.
