Meet our precious almost 2 year old boy, Guppy! We adopted Guppy the summer of 2020 from the Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue in Chico, CA. He is a healthy puppy, except he has a genetic deformity called Angular Limb Deformity (ALD). This deformity in the bone occurred as he was still growing and causes his right front limb to appear crooked or twisted. Sometimes he will start limping after running for too long. The vet already received the model of his limb so Guppy is ready for surgery. While this may look a bit cute with his paws pointing outward, if Guppy doesn't receive surgery, he will eventually develop arthritis. The procedure involves making a cut in the affected bone, aligning the bone appropriately, and securing the bone in place with metal pins.
