Lexi the gun shot survivor
Donation protected
My name is Angela Suarez and I am a veterinarian at VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital. This sweet 8 month old girl we've named Lexi was dropped off at VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital the morning of April 28th as an emergency with a gun shot wound, where I was the emergency veterinarian who took her case. She was in shock and needed immediate treatment. We discovered she had a broken right front leg due to a bullet hole that went all the way through it.
She is now starting on the road to recovery with the proper wound care and a cast that was made for her by our board certified surgeon. Despite this terrible treatment from a human, she continues to want to do nothing but cuddle and lick everyones face. She has a long road ahead of her with healing, however she is on the right track now. She will have daily changes of her wound dressing where the bullet entered and exited her leg along with the cast to keep her broken leg steady so it can heal.
Hollywood Police responded to the hopsital and are investigating into her shooting. Lexi is lucky to be in the hands of a great rescue, Grateful Paws. They are a 501c3 non-profit, volunteer only no kill rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of many dogs and cats. Any donation made on here will go directly to Lexi's care. Grateful Paws also accepts tax deductible donations on their secure website http://www.gratefulpaws.org
Thank you for any help or sharing you can do for this sweet girl and all the other pets cared for by Grateful Paws. I will continue to post photos and updates on Lexi's care.
