Donation protected
GUNS! the Musical is an over-the-top comedic rock musical that satirizes one of America's deadliest problems by making it the butt of every joke. There are no gun props nor gun sound effects—the cast use their fingers, bodies, and voices in a slapstick style reminiscent of vaudeville, commedia, and Looney Tunes. Audiences can expect stupid puns, outdated pop culture references, and more "pew pews" than you can point a finger gun at. Premiering July 31–August 10 at Theatre in the Round in Minneapolis during the Minnesota Fringe Festival.
Producing a show like this is no small endeavor! With 10 cast, 3 musicians, 1 stage manager, and 1 writer/director/producer, we need large rehearsal spaces at times that align with our busy schedules. We earn smaller shares of our ticket sales and have higher overhead costs than a solo show or an improv troupe. And although we are building a minimalist style production, we are trying to incorporate custom props and costumes for your delight.
For these reasons, we are seeking theater-loving, LGBTQ+ ally donors to help us cover $4000 worth of fees, rentals, marketing materials, costumes & props, and performer stipends. Here is a list of our out-of-pocket expenses so far:
- $725 - MN Fringe Application & Registration Fees (Gold Tier Venue)
- $525 - Audition & Rehearsal Space Rentals (Phoenix Theater; Center for Performing Arts)
- $250 - Custom Artwork for Marketing Materials
- $1500 - Cast/Crew Stipends ($100 per performer)
- $150 - Costumes/Props
- TBD - Printing Lobby Cards, Social Media Promotions, Additional Marketing Costs
$100 per performer does not come close to covering the hours and hours of hard work and dedication this cast has already put in. They deserve to be paid for their time. Memorizing lines, singing too loud, rolling around on the floor, and even taking a folding chair to the face! Unfortunately, their director's pocketbook isn't large enough to give them what they're worth. If your donations can cover the production's overhead costs, every additional dollar raised will be split evenly amongst cast and crew.
I hope you'll consider contributing to this hilarious production. You can follow our progress on Facebook , on Instagram , on the Kalal Productions website , or on the Minnesota Fringe website. We hope to see you at one of the shows (dates below) and we thank you very much!
