As many of you know, The Dittrich family have been dealing with some medical issues with their 9 year old son Gunner. Gunner is easily one of the sweetest, most kind hearted kids that you’d ever meet. Hes loved by all who meet him.

Gunner started having health issues around Christmas of last year. His symptoms started out small with a little bit of blood in his stool and stomach pain. The doctors kept an eye on it over the last few months as symptoms began to worsen. Eventually his symptoms became debilitating at some points. Severe stomach pain, head aches, dizziness, more blood loss and fatigue. The pediatrician finally decided it was time to get him a full work up to see where the bleed was coming from.

Gunner and my son and daughter-in-law spent a week at Luries where they performed an upper and lower colonoscopy/endoscopy. Both of those scans came back with great results. The doctor told Tyler and Kady that gunner needed a pill camera to be dropped with a scope into his middle intestines to hopefully find where the bleed was located. The pill camera had an error and was only able to view only half of his middle intestines.

After two procedures being put under and about a thousand pokes later, there are still no answers for gunner. Now Gunner is scheduled to go back to Rileys this week for a laparoscopic surgery where they will place a camera in through an incision next to his belly button to look on the outside of his bowel. The doctor at Riley’s thinks his symptoms could be from mekels diverticulum, and if it is they will find it during surgery and remove it.

Gunner is still actively suffering from symptoms everyday, waiting on the scan or scope that will finally find the source of the bleed.

Kady, my daughter in law has been out of work for a month, taking Gunner to all of his doctors appointments and caring for him at home. She is a small business owner that specializes in haircuts for special needs kids/adults. She has weekly rent to pay on her studio and I know that has to be hard to fulfill when she is out of work.

Tyler my son is a union carpenter out of local 1005 and he also has had to take time off to help with gunners scans and procedures. Tyler drove from Indy to East Chicago while gunner as admitted into Riley’s. He also drove to and from work everyday while gunner was admitted at Luries the week prior. He’s a hard working man and such a caring and loving father to my 4 grand babies ; braelynn, gunner, Tucker and Olivia.

Gunner is a fun loving, deer hunting, baseball maniac. He is one of the most loving and polite kids you will ever meet and he always puts a smile on everyone’s face.

They have had an overwhelming amount of support and people asking how they can help!! Any help toward the medical costs that are continually adding up would be greatly appreciated!! If not even a share will help spread the word! It will be used for travel back and forth for his surgery’s and appointments. As well as to help with any of the bills they have as they are navigating Gunners health issues. Thank you all for taking the time to read this and god bless you all
