Gunners tail

Hi everyone
The tale of Gunner’s tail.
Gunner is a ball loving, food obsessed, Arsenal loving spaniel. As a spaniel, Gunner loves to wag his tail. It’s cold, he wags his tail. He’s hungry, he wags his tail. He’s having a bath...okay, he doesn’t wag his tail then but you get the idea.
There is only one thing he loves more than the rest combined, his dad.
Gunner’s dad is a legend in his own right. In 2021, his dad, Del, experienced a horrific medical emergency. Del had 2 brain haemorrhages that resulted in him having a stroke at work. His colleagues quick actions and the incredible hospital team saved Del’s life but the work wasn’t done. Del had to learn to walk again and is still learning to live with his limitations.
There were three things he pushed himself to recover for, his two children and his best friend, Gunner. Del was desperate to recover for them all and as soon as Del left hospital, Gunner stayed by his side. When Del felt low or angry at his old life ending, Gunner was there. His parents, children and friends all rallied around but they were missing something, a wagging tail.
Now, the tail wagging has become an issue. Gunner has damaged his tail and needs surgery to save his life. Del’s source of support, unwavering love and companionship throughout all the trauma, is the one in need and Del needs help to get it.
Yes, there is insurance but that only goes so far.
So please, if you can help Gunner and Del, it would be so appreciated.
Gunner will lose most of his tail but, he’ll still be wagging it after it’s gone.
thank you
UPDATE
Gunner was seen by his usual vet this morning and will need a full amputation. Sadly, his condition is common in his breed and it’s not unusual for a spaniel to need their tail removing. Given Gunner’s impulsive tail wagging, getting to 9 with no injury is surprising.
Gunner will be having surgery Friday morning. Please send Gunner and Del good thoughts that day.
update 2.
Gunner’s surgery went well and he’s at home, being fed chicken. Gunner is back to wagging his tail and charging around the place.
