Please Help Me Bring My Best Friend’s Horse, Gunner, Home ❤️

I never thought I would have to make a post like this for one of my best friends, and honestly, I wish I didn’t have to.

I’m posting this for my best friend, Kylie, and her beloved horse, Gunner.

Gunner is an approximately 30-year-old Appendix gelding, and he has been such an incredibly important part of Kylie’s life for so many years. He isn’t “just a horse” to her. He is family. He is one of her best friends, and anyone who knows Kylie knows just how deeply she loves this horse.

Gunner has always been such a sweet, gentle soul. He’s mellow, incredibly loving, and would much rather stand next to you getting hugs than do anything else.

Unfortunately, Gunner’s health has been declining over the past year. He has lost a significant amount of muscle and has become increasingly tired. Kylie has been doing everything she can to care for him and has been trying to figure out what is happening, including looking into Cushing’s and possible complications from it.

At this point, because of his age and declining quality of life, Kylie may soon be faced with the heartbreaking decision to let Gunner go peacefully before he reaches a point where he is suffering.

I have watched how much this has broken her heart. This isn’t a decision she is making because she doesn’t want to care for him anymore. She is considering it because she loves him enough to put his comfort and dignity before her own heartbreak.

Fleet of Angels has generously offered to help with the cost of Gunner’s euthanasia if that becomes the decision that needs to be made, and we are incredibly grateful for that.

What Kylie is struggling with is the cost of private cremation and transportation so that she can bring Gunner’s ashes home.

I know not everyone will understand why cremation is so important. But if you know Kylie and Gunner, you understand that bringing him home is incredibly important to her. After loving and caring for him for all these years, the thought of saying goodbye and then not being able to bring him home is devastating.

So I’m asking for help on her behalf.

We are hoping to raise enough to cover Gunner’s private cremation and any transportation costs associated with bringing him home. If we are fortunate enough to raise more than what is needed, the remaining funds will be donated to Fleet of Angels to help another horse and family who find themselves in a situation like this.

Please don’t feel obligated to donate. Even sharing this fundraiser can make a huge difference.

I know asking for money is incredibly difficult for Kylie, and I know she never imagined she would have to ask for help with something like this. But Gunner has been her family for so many years, and I want to do everything I can to help her give him the peaceful, dignified goodbye he deserves.
