Thank you for taking the time to visit our page, and we hope that you are able to help support the recovery of Gulf Beach Lodge No. 291 F. & A. M. Just like many homes and other local businesses within the beautiful city of Madeira Beach, the first floor of our building took on approximately 4 ft of flood waters during Hurricane Helene, causing extensive damage to our dining hall and kitchen.
The damage included the floors, drywall, all of the air conditioning units, books from our little library, and all of our kitchen appliances.
We have completed the mold remediation and teardown of all the damaged materials, and are now gathering estimates from general contractors, and awaiting permits from the city. The information that we have gathered so far indicates that the cost of repairing or replacing the building is going to be high.
While we have received a very generous outpouring of support, we are staring down a long, expensive road and appreciate any assistance that you may be able to lend. In addition to the usual repairs, we're looking at extensive electrical repairs and a complete replacement of all HVAC systems.
Our beautiful Lodge building was constructed back in the early 1950's through the skill, care, and dedication of many of our original members. Throughout the past 74 years, newer generations of Freemasons that meet within our walls have worked hard to keep our building clean, warm, welcoming, and modern all while continuing to provide aid to our community.
Some of our charitable programs include a scholarship for local students that are getting ready to go on to college, a wonderful bikes for books program that has encouraged many students to pick up books and keep reading (one school alone reported 377 books having been read!), a holiday basket program that provides a meal basket for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to local families in need.
In addition, we help to support other local organizations such as the Adopt-a-Mile program through Keep Pinellas Beautiful, and the Salvation Army’s local angel tree program, connecting toys and gifts with families so that everybody can have a wonderful Christmas.
