Guito's SMILE

Well, where to start. I wouldn't consider myself to be a prideful person. Growing up we didn't have much so the little bit God blessed us with I was very grateful hence I became super humbled because of it.

My parents didn't raise a quitter, they raised a hustler and so here I am doing what I can to make sure that my son gets the help he needs. Whether it be baking and selling or a part time I will do everything in my power to make sure he's OK. And that's something Mama's can agree to.

Today, 7/23/2024, broke me. It broke me to know that my son needs care and I don't have the means to provide for him the care he needs.

So, here Iam asking for help for my son Miguel Angel Medina. But most call him Guito or Miguelito.

Guito is one of the most kind hearted, sweetest little 3 1/2 yr old soul you'll ever meet. He loves to play with his cars, planes, and loves the outdoors. He enjoys going for a swim and has a thing for robots and drones and well, he also likes to take things apart and put them back together. He is so loving to his 3 month old baby brother and such an amazing little brother to his big brother David. Anyone that knows Guito, they know that he is ALWAYS SMILING! He always has a smile on his face no matter what has been thrown his way. He holds that smile and it has melted the hearts of many and completely taken mine. He meets everyone and says "hello" in an English accent and gives them a wave or a hug. He's such a sweetheart that way. He's so beautiful inside and out and is such a happy joyful little boy.

Recently, (today) we found out that Guito needs a full mouth restoration due to a genetic dental disorder called Amelogenesis Imperfecta.

Amelogenesis Imperfecta is basically a super rare disorder and was passed down genetically through my side of the family. It's when there isn't enough proteins or minerals in order to create the enamel in his teeth. Because there is no enamel, then tooth decay occurs rapidly and the teeth are more prone to cavities.

Guito has ALL his teeth compromised. He needs to get the four front teeth extracted and get caps for the side and molar ones.

To this day, Guito hasn't ever been able to enjoy anything with sugar like candy or ice cream like any kid his age probably can. And while those kind of things aren't good for you, he also hasn't been able to enjoy any real meals. It hurts him to eat anything tough or anything you'd have to chew alot and he is very selective with his food which has affected his development and has caused a speech delay.

The procedure would be a 2 hour long procedure under anesthesia at Miami Children's Hospital performed by his Pediodontist. The available dates are August 8th and September 12th. Its a one time procedure. It's $7,412 and the insurance has been able to cover most to where we would only pay $3,066.40 not including the deductible or the Hospital outpatient copay which would bring it up to around $3,817.

God does the most amazing things, I have faith in him that we will get through this and he will provide as he always has. If given the miracle we would be able to have Guito keep holding that beautiful smile. That smile means everything to me and brings nothing but sunshine wherever it shines. Their joy and happiness is what I live for.

He would be able to eat and not suffer through pain with sensitivity and won't cry to cover his mouth from the pain. He would be able to enjoy a warm meal and begin to explore normal foods that would benefit for his development.
