Guinness has cancer. Three words I never imagined hearing outside of my worst nightmare until Friday, August 15th, when his vet had the audacity to say them out loud. Since then, I’ve sat numbly in waiting rooms, exam rooms, and consultation rooms hoping they were wrong. Hoping there was a mistake. Maybe they misread the scans or switched the bloodwork. But they didn’t. Guinness has cancer.

Guinness has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer. The best chance at giving him more time and, most importantly, keeping him comfortable is amputation surgery followed by chemotherapy.

I don’t know if you believe in soulmates, but I believe Guinness is as close as I’ll ever get. If you’re here, it likely means you know and love Guinness too. Maybe you’ve been on the receiving end of one of his attention-seeking headbutts. If so, consider yourself lucky. He loves with his whole heart, and fiercely. Recently, I came across a quote that said, “The kind of love that doesn’t ask for anything but still gives you everything.” That’s Guinness. He has indeed given everything.

This fundraiser is dedicated to ensuring Guinness receives everything in return. The best care possible. If you’re reading this, you’re already helping. Whether through a donation, sharing his story, sending thoughts and prayers, or simply keeping him in your heart (to know Guinness, is to know he loves attention). Your support means more than I can ever put into words.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts,

Kat & Guinness
