In September 2024, I was struck with Guillain-Barré Syndrome. I say struck because days after being diagnosed, I was paralyzed, a trach and feeding tube had been placed. I lost all functions of my body, including the ability to blink. I laid with my eyes open 24 hours a day as they inserted drops to keep my eyeballs moist. My children and I developed a code of blinking so I could communicate with them. One blink meant no, two blinks meant yes, and three blinks meant I love you. This was the start of a very horrible and long journey, which still is not done.

I currently need funding just to pay the bills of the necessities of my home and children. It’s very hard for me to ask for help. I’ve always been very humble and been able to make ends meet on my own. My current status is my hands are numb and tingling all at the same time and I can’t make a fist. I cannot walk and I try to stand but that lasts about 15 seconds and I must go down. My house has three steps to get into my home. And although I would love to be home with my children, currently it’s unsafe for me to be there. But the bills still come due. GBS is a horrible condition. I’m working very hard every day and seeing benefits to my hard work, but I just need a little help, so please, if you can give anything, I thank you.
