Honoring the Life & Legacy of Mama Rose
July 8, 1939 – July 15, 2025
Hi, my name is Marissa, and with a heavy heart, I’m reaching out on behalf of my family as we grieve the loss of our beloved Rosie Johnson better known as Mama Rose.
On July 15th, 2025, God called home one of His sweetest angels. After a long and difficult journey with dementia, Mama Rose passed peacefully at 5 PM, surrounded by love.
She was unforgettable — faithful, funny, full of sass and soul, and deeply devoted to both her family and her faith. Mama Rose helped raise not only her children and grandchildren, but also her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and even adopted families along the way. Her heart was a home to everyone.
Whether it was her comforting Southern cooking, her vivid stories from the past, or the way she could lovingly roast you with a little smile, Mama Rose left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith that will live on for generations.
We’re raising funds to help cover her funeral, burial, and family travel expenses — to lay her to rest with the dignity, warmth, and celebration she truly deserves. Any amount you feel called to give, no matter the size, would mean the world to our family during this time of mourning.
If you’re unable to donate, we kindly ask for your prayers, your love, and—if you knew her—your memories. Sharing a story about Mama Rose is just as powerful a gift.
To close, I want to share a poem she wrote to me many years ago — a reminder of her faith, strength, and comfort. I hold these words close, and I hope they bring you peace too:
⸻
“Remember to Pray” (Mama Rose, 2009)
“Ask and it shall be given,”
So the Lord will hear you pray.
“Seek and you will find,” for He will show you the way.
God will not turn His back on you.
We are all His children.
In this valley full of tears, we need His love to guide us,
and give us meaning to life.
Through the years to cross life’s troubled waters,
there is not a better way to do it than with God.
So hold on tight and always remember to pray.
⸻
Thank you for being here. Thank you for loving her. And thank you for helping us honor a woman whose spirit continues to guide, bless, and inspire us all.
With love and gratitude,
Marissa & The Johnson Family
