I'm a Navy veteran living with service-connected disabilities, and I know firsthand how difficult the transition home can be.

For me, my service dog, Jazzy, became far more than a companion. She gave me confidence, independence, and the stability I needed during some of the hardest chapters of my life.

Every time I brought Jazzy to the VA, veterans would stop us. They wanted to know how I found her, how the process worked, and whether a service dog could help them too. Those conversations happened over and over again, and they inspired me to create this book.

My goal is to write an honest, practical guide based not only on research, but on lived experience. I want to help veterans understand their options, avoid common pitfalls, connect with reputable organizations, and answer the questions I wish someone had answered for me. Along the way, I'll share the stories behind the journey—the moments that remind us healing doesn't always happen alone.
