Guerrier by Ӗthos Cultura at the Montréal Fringe!

Hi! I’m Misé and over the past nearly 2 years I have dedicated myself to a new path that has brought me to a place that I am equally shocked and proud to be. A culmination of my experiences in the arts and work in youth mentorship/mental health, Guerrier by Ӗthos Cultura, my new modern multimedia production has come to fruition as an interactive experience to address human connection in a ‘post’-covid world.

After almost a year of previews and evolution, this piece is finally ready for the festival stage and I couldn’t think of a better place to weigh anchor than the Montréal Fringe. The Fringe Festival, a global brand that has found a home in Montréal for over 30 years, is a perfect platform for such a conceptual and unique work to set sail for a string of shows starting on May 31.

As an artist in a new medium, naturally, there is a steep curve in establishing oneself. I am off to a healthy start with 6 successful shows as well as a feature in the Black Theatre Workshop’s AMP program, where I will be showcasing another brand new innovative and interactive piece at the Canadian National Arts Center(!). But of course, profitability for any new enterprise usually takes at least a few years.

The Fringe, while a privilege to be part of, requires an entrance fee of $344 as well as a venue fee of $500 not to mention other miscellaneous costs (promotion, promotional material, show equipment, etc.). I am seeking $844 to cover the basic cost of my participation.

By facilitating my involvement in this first festival, your contribution would be invaluable in boosting my credibility, experience and momentum. But it will also enable me to break even and emerge from this next step in a financially healthy enough position to continue this journey with the entirety of the force that has brought it this far.

But this ain’t no free lunch! Your contribution will also entitle you to (available upon request):

$20-40: Personal thank you (live online!)

$50: In-character motivational or happy birthday message to you or a friend

$60: Free entrance to a future show

$70: Free admission to a Fringe show

$80: Homemade pizza

$100: Carwash

$250: Grocery shopping for a week (retrieve items)

$500: Personal driver for a day (Re: I can show you the world)

$1000: Personal butler for a day (less Gerard, more Alfred from Batman)

$10 000 ≥: anything (think of the possibilities)

*if you get a higher value item you are eligible for 1 of the smaller ticket items as well (ex. if you pay $80 you can get a pizza and free entrance to a show)

Supporting this project is supporting people. Like many creative initiatives, Guerrier finds its purpose through trying to achieve a clear and ambitious goal: to use entertainment to bring people together around the ideas and values that can optimize the quality of our experiences as human beings in contemporary times and into the future.

A tall order for one production no doubt, but a fervent attempt in and of itself can serve as a beacon to uphold these worthy ideals. I believe that this is a prototype for such a lighthouse that, with your help, can continue to be something worthwhile and become something special.

I hope that you see the same potential and value in an early investment toward a product that has shown consistent growth and a producer demonstrating the persistent effort to sustain it.
