Helping the Homeless in Chicago

Hello Everyone, 
Some of you may know me as Elizabeth from Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary, or The Pawffee Shop Cat Cafe. Some of you may know me as the woman who befriended Daniel and Casper in Chicago. I met Daniel and Casper this fall, in Chicago. I immediately fell in love with them. I wanted to do everything I could to help them out. All of the wonderful crazy cat ladies that follow the Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary page banded together and raised some money that was given to Daniel before went back to Green Bay, to use for whatever he needed. 

At the time I met Daniel, he had just gotten out of the hospital for an infection in his foot. He told me the story of how he met Casper, and why he had lost his job (he chose to be the one who was laid off, versus the other men who had children and families to care for), and a few other things about his life. He was so compassionate, and warm. I couldn’t believe that someone in his position could save up the money to neuter, vaccinate, medicate, and care for a cat the way that he did. He was such a kind, responsible human being. I hugged him before I left, and begged him to please call me if he needed anything, or wanted to pursue my job offer - at Safe Haven in Green Bay. I’m beating myself up over not going back to see why he never called. 

l’m raising money in honor of Daniel, in order to go back to check in on the homeless of Chicago, and offer support to them in any way that I can. Whether it be helping them find resources, getting them medical care, or veterinary care. Anything not used for these purposes will be donated to other organizations that help the homeless of Chicago. I will keep you all posted.
