Hurricane Eta continues to devastate Central America, leaving a trail of pain and suffering behind her. With the continuation of heavy rains, flooding, and massive landslides, over 75,000 people have been affected in Guatemala and more than 150 have been reported dead or missing. Evacuations, rescues, and an urgent call for help unmet by the Guatemala government consume a number of Guatemala's most impoverished departments.
The entire North and Northeast of the country is literally striving to stay afloat as rising water meets rooflines.
After the COVID pandemic that has left the population without work, a wage, and food, increasing the already high rate of malnutrition (6th in the world), Eta has stolen what little remained. Now more than ever we need food, clean water, and warm blankets to help those in the several affected departments.
As a US citizen living in the Republic of Guatemala, I am using my voice to amplify those left unheard. As we turn the corner in the US presidencial race and as America finds it in her heart to be kind again, please consider making a donation, however small or large, to help those in need in Guatemala. A little goes a very long way.
Thanks in advance.
