Our affectionate kitty, Tiger, was one and a half years old when we got him. He was cuddly and loved to sleep on the lap of anyone he could reach. Only three weeks after we got him, he became sick and lethargic. We took him to the vet as soon as we could, but we unfortunately lost our newest family member before we could get him to the vet.
This happened during a time when we were already on a very tight budget. Two (human) members of our family had surgery less than a month before this happened, and with seven people living in the house, our budget is tight. We have no way to tell what caused Tiger's passing, as any tests (aside from a pet autopsy) they could run would be tainted due to the time that had passed. We need enough money to pay for vet bills for our other cats to ensure they do not get sick the same way. If we are lucky and neither cat is in need of anything other than viral testing and booster shots, then we would only need approximately 400 USD. However, our younger of the two is more at risk due to pre-existing health conditions, and the price for her treatment may rise rapidly if she gets sick.
Even if all that can be given is $1, it would help. I just hope that we can prevent the death of more of our precious fuzzy family members.
Update: we have managed to get booster shots for our oldest kitty but our youngest had to have antibiotics first. We will still need $200 to pay for her booster shots. Thankfully our elder kitty is in perfect health and we retreived tigers remains today.
