Friends, Family, any one with a heart! This Fundraiser was started to help bring any form of help or miracle for an elderly woman by the name of Maria Del Carmen Gonzales and her family who is currently stuck in Mexico on a vacation gone disaster. She is in critical condition and is in dire need of a financial way out, the goal is high but not if everyone can contribute, ANYTHING HELPS! Please read further for details
On February 17th my grandmother Maria del Carmen Gonzales went on vacation to Mexico where she had a bad fall in a store due to water on the floor on feb 17th. In the small town where we were located there is no ambulance service, when you call it takes 5 hours to show up. We did not have the time to wait so my uncle and a friend carried her and placed her in taxi and brought her to a hospital in Mexico where here is very bad medical service and attention. There we found out her right leg was broken and has a Hopkins tumor. With out medical insurance my family has had to pay top dollar for medical service. We spent around 51,000pesos (3,000 US dollars). Not including daily expenses and medications. On March 2nd while attempting to sit in a wheel chair my grandmother took a devastating second fall. When we called to have her taken to a clinic or hospital she was denied due to a lack of availability of rooms and stayed in our home in Mexico laying in bed for 2 whole days with now 2 broken legs once again. She currently has had 3 surgeries and my family once again has had to pay top dollar for each surgery. It has cost about the same for each surgery as the first. My family and I are spending our savings and borrowing money from others. While also dealing with this situation financially, physically it has been my cousin Alex Anguiano and I April Anguiano who are 18 and 20 years old taking care of her along with my aunt Rachel in this country. I have gone to pick up blood at hospitals myself, have given her physical therapy and as well cleaned her when she needs to urinate, poop and bathe because medical care here does not provide that. We have missed this semester of school since we are both college students and have not been able to return to New York.
