Hello, my name is Mary Aguayo. I would like to share my health journey with you. I have been living with type two diabetes for many years. The illness affected circulation over the years, which led to some toe amputations and the below the knee amputation in December. This has been a life changing experience for me. Affecting my ability to not be as independent as i was before my surgery. Following my surgery, I spent several months in a remote nursing rehabilitation facility. due to rising health complications at the remote facility, I had to be admitted to the hospital there to be stabilized. I was then transferred back to a facility here in Victoria. Unfortunately this facility could not provide the necessary therapy needed because the insurance plan I qualified for through the facility did not cover the required services. Consequently, I was discharged home.

Since then, I have faced daily challenges and adapting to my new circumstances I am in urgent need of a prosthetic leg, but I do not have the insurance coverage or financial means to afford one. I do not qualify for Medicaid and will not be eligible for Medicare in the near future. Without a prosthetic leg, I may have to return to a nursing facility, which would be a difficult experience for me. I am reaching out to seek assistance in raising funds for my prosthetic leg.
