My name is Sondos Al-Khatib, the mother of baby, Hoor.
My husband Hassan and I got married after a long love story. We dreamed of having children and living a simple life filled with safety and happiness. We were building our future with hope — until the Israeli occupation destroyed everything.
I gave birth to my first child, Hoor, during the genocidal war on Gaza.
Hoor is now 7 months old, deprived of healthcare, proper nutrition, and safety. She was born into a reality of survival, not life.
I suffered greatly during her birth. She was born during a period of famine, when the Israeli occupation deprived us of food, medicine, baby formula, and diapers. The sound of bombardment accompanied us during the most dangerous and painful moments of my life.
Hoor’s birth was not a moment of joy, as it should be for any mother — it was a real battle for survival. The absence of medical care and severe lack of food turned every moment into fear, as I held my baby and tried to protect her from a reality far beyond my strength as a mother.
During the war, our home was bombed and destroyed, forcing us into displacement and leaving everything we owned behind. We spent long days living in a tent that provided no protection from heat or cold, with extreme shortages of food, water, and medicine. Hoor, a newborn who had not yet completed her first months of life, slept to the sound of aircraft and woke up to fear instead of safety.
Our suffering did not stop there.
We lost our source of income and our small business due to the war and destruction. My husband is now unemployed, and we are no longer able to provide the most basic necessities of life — food, baby formula, medical care, or essential needs for our daughter — with no income and under ongoing siege.
Today, Hoor urgently needs basic living expenses, including baby formula, food, healthcare, diapers, and all essentials required for a baby her age. These basic needs have become an unbearable burden for us under these harsh conditions.
In addition, we dream of escaping this painful reality and traveling to a safe place where my daughter can grow up in peace and have her right to healthcare, nutrition, and childhood.
By God’s grace, we have managed to obtain a visa to travel to Australia, but we do not have the financial means to cover the travel costs.
I appeal to you as a broken-hearted mother:
Your donation, no matter how small, could help save my daughter’s life and give her a real chance at living.
And if you are unable to donate, sharing the link to Hoor’s story is just as important and may help her voice reach someone who can.
Hoor is not asking for the impossible
she is only asking for her right to live.
Now we need $15,000, so we can
Get out of Gaza as soon as possible before the expiration of the visa period.
Help us survive this annihilation and get a new lease of life, so we can help our people.
If you cannot donate money, please help me post the link on social media sites.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
