Empowering Futures: Invest in the Students of Beacon Hill Primary School in Zimbabwe
Education is the cornerstone of a brighter future, yet students at Beacon Hill Primary School in rural Plumtree, Zimbabwe, face immense challenges. Over 1.2 million elementary and middle school-aged children in Zimbabwe are out of school, primarily due to prohibitive public school fees and a national educational crisis that leaves many schools understaffed and under-resourced.
A Dream Ignited by Personal Experience
My name is Amelia Sikhululekile Bhoboza. I grew up in Plumtree and experienced firsthand the denial of basic educational opportunities. This fueled my determination to provide a better future for my own six children, sending them to far-away boarding schools for quality education. It also ignited a lifelong dream: to build a school in Plumtree.
Beacon Hill Primary School: A Beacon of Hope
In 2014, I began to make my dream a reality. Beacon Hill Primary School opened its doors in 2022 with 30 preschool students. Today, it educates 120 children from infancy to 5th grade and employs 13 dedicated teachers, cooks, and a bus driver, making a significant contribution to the local economy. My ultimate goal is to expand the school to include middle and high school grades, providing a complete educational foundation in a rigorous and safe environment.
How You Can Make a Difference
Currently, funding comes primarily from student fees and my salary as a child caregiver in Washington, D.C. We are fiercely proud of what we have already achieved. But the school is at a critical juncture. Around 10 students are on need-based scholarships, but many more may drop out due to Zimbabwe's economic crisis and challenges faced by NGOs.
Every dollar you contribute directly supports:
- Scholarships for vulnerable students.
- Expansion of facilities for new middle and high school grades.
- Essential learning materials like textbooks, science equipment, and computers.
- Fair wages for dedicated staff.
The typical costs for each student are:
• Tuition - $65/month
• Food - $15/month
• Transport - $20/month
• Sports $10 per term
• Registration - $10 one-time fee
Please consider donating to Beacon Hill Primary School. Your generosity will directly impact the lives of these bright, deserving students, giving them the education they need to build a better future for themselves, their families, and their community. Thank you for being a part of this transformative journey.
