Luke’s Journey

To our community:
We wish we had the time to send a handwritten thank you via snail mail to each of you. We definitely feel like just saying thank you in this format is not enough. Whether you shared our posts, donated, or just reached out to us, our family is seriously feeling the love. We are close to speechless, but we feel you all deserve an update.

There is light at the end of the tunnel but the journey will unfortunately continue. Luke has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer, due to (only!) 1 of 19 lymph nodes removed that came back positive for cancer. We are incredibly grateful to his surgeon, Dr. Rogers at Iowa Clinic, for being so thorough during the surgery. Luckily with his initial CT Scan, there were no findings in/on his lungs or other organs that colon cancer commonly progresses to.

For very basic reference: Stage 1 inside wall, Stage 2 through the wall, Stage 3 spreading to lymph nodes, Stage 4 is spreading to organs.

The next step will be chemo for 12 weeks. We will do what we can to keep you all posted.

Thank you for all the love,
Angela, Luke & Kai

On February 16th Luke Rauch was diagnosed with colon cancer. The C word is something no one ever wants to hear let alone when you’re only 36 yrs old. Luke will undergo surgery to remove the mass on Wednesday March 1st. Results of the tests sent to pathology will show what stage the cancer is in and what treatment will follow to fight this. Luke and his wife Angela just welcomed a beautiful baby boy named Kai in December. So Angela will be taking care of a newborn and Luke therefore they need all the support they can get. Without either of them being able to work it’s going to strap them financially. Anything anyone can do to help is greatly appreciated.
Luke and Angela send there love you everyone of you for your unconditional support.
