Students from Georgia State University are taking the class, managing people in organizations, are given a project where they must work together to raise at least $250 for a nonprofit organization. Our team, The Void, has chosen The Giving Kitchen as our NPO. The use of gofundme is to spread the word about TGK to people outside of the Atlanta area through social media marketing. We are also planning events in hopes to raise as much money for this wonderful organization as we can. The Giving Kitchen is an organization that provides emergency assistance to metro-Atlanta restaurant workers in crises. It first came to life as a heartfelt response to the unexpectedly devastating, stage-four cancer diagnosis of Atlanta Chef Ryan Hidinger, an influential restaurateur, in December 2012. Through much loving and financial support, mainly from the team contribution of restaurants influenced by Ryan, the organization came about and successfully covered his expenses untouched by insurance. With restaurants and bars regularly popping up in the metro-Atlanta area, in addition to personal experiences in these service industries among our members, it only made sense to give back to the organization that has given so much to those that make memorable dining experiences possible. Access to health insurance has always been a national struggle-- however, thanks to The Giving Kitchen, at least those in the restaurant industry can serve assured. Crises occur in people’s lives at the most unexpected times. People in the hospitality industry live off of their tips and may not have the funds to be prepared for something unanticipated. The Giving Kitchen helps in these times of need because they understand that unforeseen tragedies can occur at any moment. Each donation our team recieves will be donated to The Giving Kitchen. Sharing this page is as generous as a donation.
