Lyla. She lived in a backyard tied to a leash living in a shed for three years. Her owner surrendered her to the Humane Society where he labeled her aggressive toward children and other animals therefore she was overlooked for over 6 months. Then,... Amanda Grace walked into Lyla's life and the two have never been sad again. They are inseparable. I am so glad they have found each other.

Today Lyla went to the vet. She has been hobbling a lot lately. Amanda has always noticed that Lyla walked funny and today she learned why. Lyla has lived with a torn ACL in her right leg and she needs surgery to correct it. If there is no surgery, she will possibly tear the ACL in her other leg or develop arthritis in the right leg and be in deep pain requiring constant medication. Bless her heart. How much can one puppy handle?

Amanda just started working as a first-grade teacher here in Utah. Teachers have come a long way in salaries since I started teaching in 1990, but an unexpected surgery of over $3,000 for a kid coming out of college and on a first-year teaching salary is a bit tough.
