Daniel's Fundraiser

In 2010, at just 10 years old, Daniel Gomes was diagnosed with osteosarcoma cancer in his left leg. Two years later, after a series of chemotherapy treatments, surgeries, physical therapy, and tests, he was cleared of the cancer. Although he has been cancer-free for nearly five years, he has had over ten more surgeries on his leg. Recently, on July 20th, he underwent an extensive eight-hour surgery to remove his femur and knee. This procedure was called a distal femoral resection with endoprosthetic replacement. He now faces several months of rehabilitation, including physical therapy and trips down to Stanford Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, California for checkups and x-rays. This is a five hour round trip. In an effort to correct the discrepancy between his left and right legs, he will have to undergo more surgeries to lengthen the prosthetic replacement.

Daniel has seven siblings living at home and the family is on one income.  The money raised will help to cover medical expenses and trips to Stanford.  Thank you for your consideration.
