Adley Ray was born shortly after Thanksgiving, on Monday, November 28th in the morning. What was a beautiful celebratory moment, quickly became a moment of crises, because Adley Ray unfortunately, aspirated meconium. Adley was no longer able to breathe and needed urgent critical care. Adley has a great team of physicians at Peyton Manning Children’s hospital. She is working hard to breathe on her own, as well as recover from the hypoxia she experienced. As you may imagine, this has already been a long road and there is a lot of milestones that Adley has yet to meet.

In the last 2 weeks, Adley has needed one of the highest levels of support for life, the ECMO machine. She is getting stronger each day and recently has been able to wean off of the ECMO! We praise the Lord! This is a huge step! She has also had to endure 10 days of gut rest (no nutrition by mouth) due to dead bowel (part of her intestines had died). The good news is that because of the gut rest, it looks like Adley will not need a surgical repair for the dead bowel, we Praise the Lord again! Adley’s next step is weaning her oxygen flow rate as she learns to breathe on her own. She gets to start eating more and more, and growing more and more. She will start “eating” with a tube feeding, and then when she’s ready, will get to learn how to breast and bottle feed. Kathy & Adam expect they will be in the NICU for several more weeks. There are a lot of unknowns in the weeks ahead. Please pray for complete healing and recovery for Adley. Please pray for wisdom for her physicians, and for Kathy & Adam, as they navigate the road ahead. They are so incredibly thankful for your prayers, love and support.
