As I write this, Dale Cantwell age 18 years of age is lying in a hospital bed in the Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire where he has been a patient since October this year. Dale was also a patient at Beaumont and Tallaght Hospital before going to Dun Laoghaire since June this year. Dale wasn’t a patient here because he fell ill, nor did he have a medical condition, he is there because he was brutally attacked and this is what makes this story more heart breaking. I can’t even begin to imagine how the family felt when they heard the news, can you? All I know is that we need to do what we can to get Dale the help that he needs to give this young man back his life.
Dale was the victim of a horrific attack in Clondalkin on the 3rd July 2018. This brutal attack left Dale in a coma needing ongoing treatment in Beaumont Hospital where he suffered a brain injury which has resulted in him losing the power in the right hand side of his body.
Dale recently completed his leaving certificate and celebrated his 18th birthday, but due to his injuries Dale didn’t get to celebrate these like he should have, like any normal 18 year old should, Dale was a fine healthy young man with his whole life ahead of him and due the nature of his attack, this was all taken away from him. We don’t know what the future holds for Dale, but we can try and give him the best possible life that he can have.
As you can imagine, not knowing what way things will unfold for Dale has had a massive impact on his family. They are there by his side all day, every day and doing everything in their power to try and build Dales strength up each day, but unfortunately it just isn’t enough.
As of January 2019, Dale will be discharged from Dun Laoghaire Hospital but will need private treatment to continue with his recovery. We need to give him the best possible treatment that he can get, but we need your help to do this.
We are asking that you PLEASE! PLEASE! help support this young man through his journey and donate what you can. How little or big the donation doesn’t matter as EVERY penny counts!
