Hello, the family of Gerald C. Schulein are pleased to introduce you to our son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle.
For all of you who may not know, Gerald was paralyzed in a fall which occurred on July 9, 2015. Since that time he has worked tremendously hard to become the very independent person he is today.
We are starting this account to help Gerald fulfill his dream of continuing his therapy at the next level.
At this time, Gerald has completed as much of the therapies that are available in our area. His dream now is to work with NextStep Kansas City located in Overland Park, Kansas. As stated on their website, “NextStep Kansas City is a state-of-the-art paralysis recovery center, that is dedicated to meeting your recovery needs with cutting-edge training techniques.” “Our approach uses intense activity-based recovery, backed by research and technology to expose those affected by paralysis to the most forward-thinking rehabilitation in the industry.” “By offering the state-of-the art equipment, world class trainers, cutting edge therapies; our centers provide the best chance for recovery, independence, and health.” We invite you to visit their website www.nextstepfitness.org/kcabout/ to better understand what this therapy is all about.
Gerald's neurologist has given her consent for this therapy, but unfortunately it is not covered by his health insurance.
As Gerald's family we would love to help him attain this dream. But as with most things in this world it takes money. His therapy alone will cost $100.00 an hour; and it is suggested that you attend 2-3 days a week for at least 2-3 hours each day, for an average weekly therapy cost of $600.00. There will also be travel, food and lodging expenses. We are guesstimating these at between $ 1,000.00-$1,500.00 a week.
At this time Gerald would love to attend this program starting in January 2017; for no less than one month, with hopes that things go well and that additional therapy would be a promising prospect.
As his family and along with anyone who truly knows Gerald, we all know that he will work at the highest level humanly possible to obtain the most from this therapy.
If you would like to work with us to help Gerald attain this dream your generosity would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!!
