Jan 2026 update:
Since we first explained the situation, Karen’s cancer journey has changed. When we initially set up the GoFundMe, we believed her recovery would take a much shorter amount of time. What we thought would be just a few months has now turned into what will be a 6–7 month (or longer) journey toward healing.
While many of us were home celebrating the holidays, our beautiful, strong, and vivacious friend Karen spent hers unexpectedly admitted to the Saint John Regional Hospital, due to some serious complications which require monitoring by her amazing oncology team.
As a result, the financial need now extends beyond what was originally anticipated. This includes frequent travel to and from Saint John, dog boarding costs for her sweet girl Evie, and the everyday bills that continue to pile up when someone is unable to work and earn a full salary.
Because of this, we are updating the fundraising goal and asking our amazing friends and family to consider donating and/or sharing this post (again if you can). If we raise enough to cover full-time boarding for Evie, it would lift a huge weight off Karen’s shoulders and allow her to focus completely on what matters most… getting well.
Let’s do this again, everyone. We know the power of this community, and we are so grateful for every ounce of love, support, and generosity you’ve shown.
Thank you so, so much. Let’s do this! ❤️

original post from Oct 2025:
Hi Everyone!
Our dear friend Karen McKillop needs a little help right now.
She has been given a cancer diagnosis that is totally treatable but she has a difficult next few months ahead of her.
So let’s come together to show her our love and give her a little help!!
Karen will have quite a few unexpected expenses including time off work for a surgery in Halifax, care for her doggie Evie, and a recovery time where she will likely require a bit of care.
Please help me help Karen so she has one less thing to stress about (money).
