I'm Shawn and I am looking for help for my dog The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel or Maisie for short.

Maisie came to me in June 2025 from a couple that found her on the side of the road but could not keep her. Maisie clearly had been made to have a litter and was dumped after she had it. She had signs of abuse and neglect. I did not know the extent of her medical issues until recently.

She has serious dental disease and has heart worm. Her dental disease is impacting her ability to eat. She has lost weight in the week since this started and is mostly not eating.

Many of you know my older beagle Sissy died recently after a battle with cancer. Her vet bills were very high. Maisie is going to need extensive care too. Unfortunately, Maisie's care is outside the realm of doable financially. Hence, I am swallowing my pride and asking for help.

Here is the breakdown as it stands today:

Dental cleaning and extractions - $1500-1900

Heart worm treatment (average for my area) $600

I have attempted to see if rescues or shelters will take Maisie to give her care, to no avail. Personal loans and credit cards are not an option right now as I have done that to help take care of Sissy. Her bills were $2500-3000 when all was said and done.

I realize that times are extremely tough for a lot of people. Anything helps, even if it's a dollar. My goal is to keep Maisie so long as she is thriving and healthy, which I know she can be.
