Hi, my name is Shawna, and I’m fundraising for my dog Tucker — my best friend, my shadow, and the sweetest, goofiest boy you could ever meet.
I adopted Tucker in 2020 after he was seized from an abusive home by animal control and taken to a shelter. From the moment I saw him, despite everything he’d been through, he had this gentle, silly spirit. Tucker destroys every toy with pride, gives the best cuddles, and will do just about anything for a Taco Bell soft taco (no lettuce, please ).
Two days ago, everything changed. I woke up and found him lying in a spot he never chooses. He wouldn’t get up, he was lethargic, and he had no appetite — completely unlike him. I rushed him to the emergency vet, and after multiple tests, they believe he has IMHA (Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia), a very serious autoimmune disease where the body destroys its own red blood cells.
Tucker was hospitalized after being treated urgently. IMHA is a long road — often up to a year of monitoring, medications, and repeat testing. His initial emergency care is already around $6,000, and the vet is recommending a few days of hospitalization for monitoring, which would add another $4,000. Long-term care, immunosuppressants, and follow-up treatment will be ongoing and costly.
This all happened so suddenly, and as a single person with one income, the financial burden is overwhelming. I would do anything for Tucker — he’s my family — but I can’t manage this alone.
If you’re able to donate or even just share this campaign, it would mean the world to me. Tucker deserves the chance to keep fighting and come home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my sweet boy get the care he needs. ❤️
