GROWTH Foundation was formed in January 2006 by Deana Ruggieri as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit California Corporation to provide supportive services to at risk youth and their families, including an award winning after school program, employment preparation, referrals, and advocacy (www.growthfoundation.org).  For the past several years GROWTH has operated in an abbreviated capacity providing individualized assistance but GROWTH is gathering steam and continuing its mission with renewed purpose!  

 

 

The mission of GROWTH was - and still is - to help youth reach their academic and occupational goals, and achieve self sufficiency and overall well-being. The enriching experiences fostered through the GROWTH after school program particularly, led to substantial personal growth for the participants, volunteers and members of the community with whom we worked.  In very real ways, GROWTH altered lives.  For example, the relationships created out of GROWTH literally facilitated sobriety and career development, changed perceptions about race, age, gender and law enforcement , and connected many special kids with a community they previously disregarded.  

 

 

GROWTH offered round the clock support to participants and lead them in numerous activities in an effort to connect with their community. GROWTH spearheaded projects such as Care for the Canyon, P.U.P Project and participated in programs including Girl Scouting, NBA’s Read to Achieve, Police Activities League, Hope for the Homeless and the Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Hollywood.

 

 

In recognition of its efforts and accomplishments, GROWTH Foundation has been awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award for multiple volunteer projects across Los Angeles, as well as numerous Certificates of Appreciation and decorative scrolls by the Mayor of Los Angeles, City Council District 4, the Business and Professional Women of Hollywood, the Hollywood Coordinating Council, and other community based organizations.

 

 

Today we are launching GROWTH's first gofundme to not only continue the evolution of our after-school services, but to provide a natural progression for the Foundation --

 

The GROWTH Foundation Scholarship!

 

An early focus of GROWTH volunteers was preparing participants for the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) and setting short term academic and occupational goals.  Some participants entered the workforce for the first time, some continued working jobs that GROWTH helped them secure, while others enrolled in community college or university. 

 

 

The scholarships will provide financial aid towards education whether it be a GED, trade school, college, or post graduate work. Following an application process that will be shared with schools and youth service providers, scholarships will be awarded in varying amounts (ranging from $500 to $5,000) depending upon available funds and individual need, and will be sent directly to the applicant's school or institution.
