Hālau is home for many ʻohana. To have a place to call home really builds a foundation for the values we hope to instill in our keiki. Aloha (love), Hōʻihi (respect), ʻOhana (family), Haʻahaʻa (humility) are only a few among a long list that we as a hālau have worked to live by through all we do.

In 2009, Ka Lei Hali’a o Ka Lokelani opened its doors to its first ʻōlapa (hula students). Kumu hula Leialoha Kaʻula began a journey that would ultimately form and shape the purpose of so many to come. Nearly 10 years ago, in a small studio, and with 10 dancers we set out to share our hearts - our love for hula and the Hawaiian culture.

This love set in motion an ever blazing fire to educate and build our community so far from Hawai’i, but with a very close connection. Ka Lei Haliʻa O Ka Lokelani in partnership with ʻO.H.A.N.A. Foundation driven by the passion of Leialoha Kaʻula has been successful at educating hundreds of ʻōlapa in the art of hula, shared Hawaiian history to thousands in the community, raised funds for college scholarships, raised awareness of health and economic matters near and far, driven initiatives to support economically challenged families, and above created a home for many to raise their families. 

As our passion for hula has grown so has our number of ʻōlapa.  We have been blessed with need to find a bigger home for our growing hālau ʻohana. We humbly ask for support from our community to help us obtain and build into our new bigger home. From here we can continue the journey we started so many years ago and provide the same home for so many more.
