On Saturday the Grosso family left their home in Bel Air, for what they thought would be a typical evening out with their two teenage boys. Less then 45 minutes after arriving at the Bel Air BBQ Bash, they received the call that their home was on fire. Neighbors noticed smoke coming from the roof and jumped into action. The neighbors called 911 and entered the smoking home to save the family’s two Pugs.
The family is immensely grateful that no one was injured and the Pugs were rescued quickly!
The fire started in the attic and although the fire didn’t spread far, the insulation was smoldering and had to be extinguished 4 separate times over the evening and Sunday morning. The water damage to the home is unbelievable!
Many of the family’s possessions will be unrecoverable, and the home will take many months to repair the extensive damage.
Fortunately, they have homeowners insurance that will pay to rebuild the waterlogged home and replace possessions, eventually. However, in the short term the expenses are already beginning to stack up. The family left with only the clothes they were wearing. This has been absolutely devastating and emotionally draining for the whole family. We are asking for whatever you could spare to help this family get back on their feet and add a little comfort to an unimaginable situation.
Tricia is a PACU nurse at Upper Chesapeake and Frank is a Nurse Practitioner at Union Memorial. The boys are in ninth and eleventh grades at Patterson High School.
