I have the honor of teaching 45 fourth graders in the Brightwood neighborhood of Washington, DC. My students and their families are extremely hard workers.

Many of their family members work in restaurants and hotels but have been laid off like so many others. Unfortunately, most of the families do not qualify for stimulus payments or government support. They are struggling to provide food for my students and other family members. While there are some food bank options, they do not provide sufficient food for larger families and are not easily accessible on public transportation.

My goal is to raise $100 for each of my 45 students, which will go towards groceries for them and their families.

 I will use funds to buy online gift cards to the grocery store in the neighborhood and text them to families.
