Update: A woman and her 12 year old girl were taken from school pick up on Wednesday, leaving behind their other family members. The community has a renewed fear to leave their homes and are facing urgent hunger needs.
So many families in the Minneapolis metro area are struggling to leave home out of fear, making it difficult to access basic necessities like groceries. As someone who is personally connected with 17 families with small children from a school in the heart of an immigrant community—many of whom are expecting another child this year—I see firsthand the urgent need for support. These families are facing unique challenges, and I want to ensure they have access to the healthy, fresh foods that are so important for growing kids and expectant parents.
With your help, I will be purchasing fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk, and proteins from local immigrant-owned stores that are also struggling with a lack of business right now. I have a refrigerator dedicated solely to perishable items, so I can safely store and distribute nutritionally dense foods that are often hard to come by when relying on donated goods. Every week, I handle all the shopping and logistics myself to make sure these families get what they need.
Thank you so much for every dollar you send! Your support will help me continue to do this for our community, making a real difference in the lives of children and families who need it most.
