When I checked in on some Hispanic friends, I learned that they were too afraid to leave their homes to go to the grocery store. Many are only leaving the house to go to work, and the fear and uncertainty they feel is making it difficult for them to care for their families. It was heartbreaking to see how much anxiety and isolation they are experiencing, especially when it comes to something as basic as putting food on the table.
Because of the current environment, the 20-25 families who will be helped by these donations wish to remain anonymous. Every week or two, I’ll shop for fresh food and bring it to those who need it most. This support will help families feed their children, ease some of the fear they’re living with, and remind them that they are not alone. They told me,
"We are too scared they will take us and separate our family."
"We don't have anyone here who can help us because even those of us with papers know we can be taken."
"They have taken family members and people we know. And now we don't know where they are or what is going to happen with them."
"I hate I was born with the wrong skin color."
Your donation will make a real difference for these families. With your help, we can provide comfort, nourishment, and hope to people who need it most. Please consider supporting this effort—every contribution helps us show these families that they are valued and supported. In a time when many feel unwanted or overlooked, help me show that we care for and stand with our immigrant neighbors.
