Grizzly's Knee Surgery

Donation protected

This is Grizzly, our family dog...He is actully more like one of the kids...Technically he belongs to my son Tanner.
Grizzly came to us about 3 years ago. He was raised as a puppy in another family. The mom of that family has some medical issues and they could not keep Grizzly and the other Huskies that they had so the dogs were taken back to the breader, Liberty Siberians. Bonnie at Liberty is amazing! Her love for her puppies is ever lasting. We didn't know anything about owning a husky and she has vowed that she would always be there for us!

We never had a dog over all these years because I never wanted to have a dog while we worked and the kids were in school. We didn't think it was right to have a dog locked in the house all day.... Tanner was doing online high school from home and was in his 2nd year of online and we decided to get a dog in hopes that he would have a companion... Tanner found Grizzly on a web site...pet finder and fell in love with him immediately..through a picture.. Not just hey mom look at this dog...It was mom...I HAVE TO HAVE THIS DOG...Oh man...This dog?...How do I get this dog?  I got in contact with Bonnie at Liberty and we set up a meeting. Upon arriving at Liberty Tanner was so excited! He couldn't wait to meet Grizzly. Me being the mom that I am, I had been telling him that there was a chance that we would go home without him because it was the dog who got to decide if he was coming home with us...we didn't get to choose... When Tanner and Grizzly first met it was like they grew up together..Fate....Grizzly knew right away that he was choosing Tanner to be his boy! They have been inseparable ever since.

About 9 months ago Grizzly started limping on his back left leg when we would get home from the dog park....He LOVES the dog park!! He would rest for a little while and he would be ok again. This continued for some time. Then about 3 months ago after visiting the dog park it took several days for him to recover and I don't believe that he fully did. We had been giving him natural suppliments to help him that were working very nicely until lately. For the last month or so he has been laying around..hardly eating,,doesn't want to play..depressed..He has a very hard time getting up to even go outside to potty. It has been very sad to watch our full of life husky be in so much pain.

I finally took him to the vet. After some x-rays and a large bill we were told that Grizz has Cranial Cruciate Ligament and Anterior Cruciate Ligament Disease.

He has torn his cranial cruciate ligament, or CCL – similar to the ACL in humans. This ligament connects the back of the femur (the bone above the knee) with the front of the tibia (the bone below the knee).

The cranial cruciate ligament is one of the most important stabilizers inside the knee (stifle) joint, the middle joint in the back leg.

The Doctor says that he needs to have surgery to repair the tear in his ligament. This surgery plus the cost of recovery and medications is what we are looking to raise.

Grizzly means everything to our family and this surgery would restore the love he has for living.  He loves going to the dog park..being with his family and pretending he is a lap dog!!

Without this surgery he will get bad arthritis in his left leg and likely tear the ligament in his right leg trying to compensate for the left leg. His future is uncertain without the repair of this injury.

Please help us get this surgery for Grizzly so that he can live a long, healthy life in his forever home.
