Walden's Parents Lost Their Home

Donation protected
Walden Grindle grew up in Lower Lake, with his parents Judy and Randy. His parents lived in the same house from the time he was born all the way up until last week.

The Clayton fire that devastated Lake County changed that.  Nearly 190 homes, downtown buildings, whole neighborhoods, a number of historical structures, and about 4,000 acres have been burnt in the last week.

The Grindle home was one of those homes lost.

Judy and Randy lost everything when their home burnt. They stayed until the very end, when firefighters forced them to leave. They barely had time to grab a cell phone and a computer.

The fire is mostly contained, but now the recovery begins. And that's really scary to think of when you've lost everything. Simple things like clean clothes, medicine, dishes, and those types of things are just...gone. The Grindles are staying with their friends, at a motel, or out of their car, and doing their best to adjust to this horrible situation.

Walden holds a special place in my heart. I know a LOT of people that feel the same. His upbringing was a lot of what made Walden, Walden.  Growing up in Cloverdale, I spent a lot of time in Lower Lake, Middletown, Clear Lake, and the area playing sports and camping and I love the area.  And though I didn't know Walden in high school, I feel blessed I was able to spend years knowing him once we got to college. I think it would be really great if we could all get together and help a little bit. You know, help out the folks that gave us Walden.

If there is anything you can do to donate money, it would be immensely appreciated. 100% will go directly to Judy and Randy (minus the GoFundMe fees) to take care of bills, temporary lodging, clothing, food, and to get their feet back on the ground.

If you can't donate money, you can still help the Grindles and other families trying to deal with losing everything.

Danielle's cousin is a major contributor to a group called "Sending Love to Lake County" and has been supporting efforts to provide clothing, water, supplies, and many other things involved with this fire relief mission.  You can find information on their Facebook page or reach out to Danielle and she will help coordinate getting your donations to Lower Lake.

If you can share this little campaign with your friends, it would be really great to get the word out.
