on march 29th an unfortunate event happened leaving work griffin had gotten speed wobbles due to the uneven/crack in the road which caused him to lose control and roll/slide with the bike 250 feet. Resulting with him going to the hospital for tons of road rash a lots of fractured and broken parts in his foot due to the 600 pound bike landing on him multiple times. I’m creating this for him to hopefully help relieve the stress of some of the medical bills coming his way due to st Luke’s doing 6 surgery’s already and he’s on his way to another one at the university. This could not had happen to a better person and I mean that genuinely griffins a sweet soul and bends his back over for everyone of his friends/family. He’s the type of guy to have all this happen and tell you he’s sorry you had to watch that when he’s got bones literally poking through his foot and yes he said this to me. Anything helps!!! UPDATE!!!
Griffin originally went into surgery in the middle of the night after the accident to place two rods in his foot. The head of his 5th metatarsal had rotated out of place 120°. The bone had a spiral fracture and a compound fracture above it. Some bone fragments were lost. The rods are intended to straighten out the bone and hopefully save some of the loose fragments of bone he still has. Since then, numerous surgeries have been done to combat tissue trauma due to the high impact injury.
Griffin has now been transferred to the University of Iowa hospital where a large team of expert surgeons have weighed in on his care plan moving forward. He's currently in surgery to close up the large incisions he previously had open and replace the rods with clean ones.
He's been an absolute trooper, withstanding more excruciating pain in a matter of a few days than any one person should have to feel in a lifetime. Even through it all, he's always checking in with his family and friends to make sure they're alright (even though he's the one in the hospital bed!) and thanking every single medical professional for their help no matter the task.
He can't wait to finally go home!
