Griffin The Great - A Heart Journey

Donation protected
As everyone knows, that follows Griffin's journey, we have been out in California at Lucille Packard Childrens Hospital - Stanford. We came out here September 12th for Griffin's first open heart surgery. Since we have gotten here things have definitely gone up, down, in circles, and every other direction when it comes to his health. We arrived and he contracted Rhinovirus, which set surgery back. He "arrested" and had to go on life support for 8 days. He finally had the surgery and they needed to wait 10 days to close his chest while placing a pacemaker at the same time. He had a slow, difficult recovery that involved fevers, withdrawal, and respiratory problems that led him to getting a trach. And now the big kick in the gut, we have just found out that they are going to open him back up to remove the pacemaker due to infection. This is going to set us back another few months after we were already planning on coming home this week or in the immediate future depending on insurance, transportation, and all the other logistics. The team and surgeons arent completely sure how well Griffin will handle this unexpected surgery. And once the surgery is done we will have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for him to heal and recover from the surgery AND infection before they can put a new pacemaker in. At that point, it will be so close to when they anticipated doing his 2nd surgery that they will probably just try to do his full repair at the time of replacing the pacemaker. I cant begin to express how devastated we are and we definitely werent prepared for this financially or emotionally. The kids back home are taking it extra hard because we wont be back for yet another holiday, and a big one at that, let alone any time soon. Jarryl is back home with them now becuase he went back to work and they needed their dad. So me and griffin are out here alone and I dont even want to talk about how hard that has been. So that brings me to this update. I hate asking for help but I miss the kids and Jarryl so much. They really want to come out here to be with us at least for a few days, literally crying to me on the phone when they talk about it. Im trying to make that happen but were falling short on funds for plane tickets and driving would be pointless because it would take days just to get here and theyd have to turn right back around. So if anyone is willing to throw a few bucks this way I would be eternally grateful to you. I know its the holidays and money is tight for everyone so please dont feel obligated, Im just trying everything I can to see the kids. Thank you so much. Love, Us.
