Griff n Tiff in the IVF Odyssey

Love knows no bounds, but sometimes you hit a wall and have to ask for a little help to get over it.

Tiffany and I have been together now for over 16 years. We first met while working at a movie theater back in Memphis, TN in 2002. She first took sight of me when I, being the bright person I am, got my uniform vest stuck in a cash register and she had to rescue me. She later took a big step forward from her shyness and asked me to her Junior Prom, which became our first official date!

Fast forward to 2004;  I set off to join the United States Navy, a decision I had been thinking about before Tiffany and I even got together. Right off the bat this put a slight strain on our relationship. I didn’t even know where I was going to be stationed and Tiff was already making plans to go to the University of Hawaii at Hilo, to pursue her Marine Science Degree.  As luck would have it, we were able to actually be stationed together in the same state, just not the same island.

After three deployments, and Tiffany finishing college, we were able to tie the knot. So after 6 years of being together we were able to finally answer the question, “When’s the wedding date?”. This last May we celebrated our 10 year anniversary!

Ever since we have been married, we get asked all the time “when will you guys have kids?”.  And we smile and politely say, “Not yet,” or “hopefully soon.” But in reality, this is a hard, painful question for us to answer. And it gets harder to answer every year we don’t get pregnant. With us being in the Military we have not had the stability to really figure out why we weren’t getting pregnant. When we were able to get stationed back stateside in 2017 we were finally able to pursue answers.

We have probably kept this a private matter for far too long, but we have decided, together, to make this public.  After several years of trying, and quite a few medical tests, Tiffany and I have learned that we are unable to conceive on our own. In order for us to have children naturally our only medical option is to proceed with IVF, or Invitro fertilization.

The good news though is that we are really good candidates for IVF.

The bad news is that IVF success isn't 100%, but more like 50%-60% chance of success.

The really bad news: IVF is not covered by our insurance.  The cost of IVF is several thousands of dollars plus the cost of medications.

Despite all of these worries and fears we are confident that with the help of you, our family and friends, we will be able to get over this hurdle and add another member to our and your family.

If you are not in a position to give we totally understand but ask that you please share our story so that we can overcome this obstacle.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts if for nothing but reading this and understanding what we are going through. We love you all very much and appreciate any support you can provide.
