Help Griff Get a Wheelchair Van
Donation protected
Update! Thanks to the unparalleled generosity of this community (all now honorary members of Team Griffski), we met our initial goal! Because the actual cost of the van is 50-100K we have increased the fundraising goal to 35,000. Our family is beside ourselves with gratitude for all your support. Please share widely!

Our nephew Griffin is a funny dude, a talented gamer, a dare devil on his sit ski, and an amazing older brother and cousin. He has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)— a rare, progressive muscle wasting disease. At age 14, he mostly gets around in a wheel chair. Earlier this week, he fell and broke his leg and will be in his chair full-time, at least for the foreseeable future. His parents have known he’d lose his ability to walk and that they’d need a wheelchair van eventually, but with his recent fall, the time is now. Our sister Maggie and brother-in-law Brian don’t like to make personal asks for support, preferring to steer potential donors to organizations that can benefit all families impacted by DMD. But they need our support to be able to purchase G’s wheelchair van, which can cost upwards of 75K. Maggie is a public elementary school teacher. Brian works with the VT National Guard, creating supportive programming for military kids and families. The two of them met when they were working as outdoor educators. In other words, these two have spent their lives giving back to the children in our community. Here we are, asking humbly for our community to give back to them, and to their kids. Monetary support is much appreciated (this is a GoFundMe after all), but well-wishes, thoughts and prayers are also all welcome and mean so much to our family as well. If you would like to learn more about Griffins journey with DMD, you can read Maggie’s blog here http://monstersandgifts.blogspot.com/?m=1.
