Grief therapy fund

Hi pals,

This is impossibly hard for me to write. I am beyond ashamed to be this transparent, but I know I will not be able to sustain myself or get better on my own, or in silence.

My goal and intention with this fundraiser is to become healthy enough to return to school and work, thus, being in a place financially where I can afford to bury & honor my father while I continue healing.

As most of you know, I lost my father rather suddenly this year. I don't talk about the complex details surrounding his passing & having to quickly navigate arrangements, costs, ect. But in addition to compounding trauma this summer & my mental health- I have currently reached a point where I am struggling to take care of myself and basic needs.

I have truly exhausted all options of province-covered therapy- unsuccessful trial treatments/studies, medications, and referrals denied. I am trying, with my entire being, to stay out of hospital as my birthday and holidays approach.

I found a private psychotherapist specializing in trauma & grief who I feel safe with. I'm gutted that, while common now, her rate per 50-minute session is $160 plus HST = $180.80. While I am incredibly grateful and privileged to receive government disability income, this is my sole income covering only rent and a few bills.

With the level of support I'm needing; ideally I would see her twice a week. The total sum of this fundraiser reflects this. However, I would be beyond grateful to raise enough for weekly or biweekly sessions.

Breakdown of funds

•180.80 per session twice weekly x 16 weeks

•180.80 x 2 = 361.60 x 16 = 5785.60

•GoFundMe transaction fee 2.9% + $0.30 per donor = $150 (rough estimate)

Total: 5935.60
