I am Grey's grandmother and very worried about him.
He is a transgender person who suffers from Ehlers Danlos syndrome (http://ehlers-danlos.com/what-is-eds/).
About a month ago he woke up and could not stand. He was very dizzy and nauseous with high heart rate and blood pressure so was rushed to the hospital emergency. By now he had developed a very bad headache. All test that were run on him came back normal. For 2 weeks he laid in the hospital with a bad migraine, blood pressure spikes and drops and dizziness. After the first week he started having seizures but nothing could be found to explained why.
Labeled as a "medical mystery" he was discharged from the hospital and sent home (where he is now).
His mom and dad and I want to take him to OHSU in Portland but the insurance company will not allow that as there is an emergency room here. So much red tape! I want to be able to take him to OHSU and and find out what is wrong.
Meanwhile, Grey is home having tremors, headaches and seizures. The money will be used to take him up to Portland or if we raise enough to get him to the EDS specialists clinic in Baltimore (http://ehlers-danlos.com/eds-center-for-research-clinical-care/). Since this has baffled the generalists and neurologists he has seen so far we are not positive it is associated with EDS but we are positive he needs to see a specialists to get more help.
If we could just know what is going on we could maybe fix it or at least know how to handle it. We need the money NOW as he is getting worse as time goes by. Grey's dad (Bob) has been able to get an appointment in APRIL at OHSU. We don't believe he can wait that long.
Grey is an amazing person and his whole life has been pain, and now this. At 21 he should be enjoying life, not stuck in bed or a wheelchair having seizures.
As his grandma I worry a lot as I watch him going through this. Im old (75) and I should not be in better shape than a 21 year old. If I can get help for him I will be forever thankful and will do my best to help others and pay it forward all I can.
