Suppport Gretchen's Vet Treatments
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Christine and this is for one of my dear cats, Gretchen. On the evening of Friday September 8, I noticed Gretchen was very lethargic and refusing all food and treats. She normally devours treats like a vacuum, and the poor girl was feeling so bad that she wouldn't eat a single treat. I brought her to the overnight emergency vet, and they examined her and ran blood tests. Her kidney levels (Creatinine and BUN) were so high that the test could not show the exact numbers. She was immediately admitted to the critical care unit to start fluids and antibiotics (for potential infection). The vet believes it is acute-on-chronic kidney disease, meaning she had some episode that caused her kidney levels to spike rapidly. We have still not determined the cause, and she will need multiple tests and continued 24-hour care to bring her kidney levels down.
I want to give Gretchen every possible chance she has at recovery. So far, she has been under 24-hour care for three days, and it is looking like she is going to need at least a week. The vet wants to run more tests to determine the cause of the AKI. Xrays and echocardiogram have already been performed, and Gretchen is scheduled for an ultrasound on Tuesday (9/12) morning. If the ultrasound finds something with the kidneys, Gretchen may need surgery and an even longer stay in the hospital.
I am starting the goal at $3000, which will barely cover half of the already incurred expenses. I just want to be able to bring Gretchen home again.
Thank you for your time. <3
