Gretchen Needletoes Cancer Fund

PLEASE NOTE: Gretchen did not respond to treatment and will have to be humanely euthanized this week. I am using funds raised to help offset her costs so far and to pay for testing for the other cats in the household so that we can either rule out or confirm a cancer cluster since it's only been four weeks since Monkey died of the same cancer.

Many of you know I am retired from cat rescue (well - as retired as one can truly be from rescue).  Two weeks ago, after an extended illness, my sweet cat Monkey passed away.  I rescued him from the wall of my house when he was three weeks old and bottle raised him.  He was awesome and amazing and I now have an amount equal to the cost of a car charged to my credit card.  This is Monkey with his girlfriend Lexi, who was 12 years his junior.  Monkey was a stud.

Three days after his passing, I was back at the vet with tiny Gretchen, who wasn't really eating.  Gretchen was the runt of her litter and was rescued when her mama was unable to move her when she moved the other kittens.  It took me six hours and some sneaking into a neighbor's wood pile to catch her (she was doing the kitten panic meow), but from that day forward, she's been a sweet, sassy girl and my constant companion. She has moved cross-country with me twice (Silicon Valley-New Orleans-Seattle) and is 11 years old.

It has now been confirmed that she has lymphoma. With Monkey's vet bills filling up my credit card, I'm worried about paying for Gretchen's treatment.  So, at the (strong) urging of my very wise friends, I am putting aside my pride and asking for help.

She had her first visit with the oncologist today (May 11th) and we will begin chemotherapy next week.

The amount I'm asking for is only for chemotherapy, the tests and office visits so far, plus fees charged by gofundme (8%).  Here is a list showing her treatment schedule and costs as provided by her oncologist.  I have an itemized estimate for each week if anyone would like to see it:

It's always uncomfortable asking for help, but as one eloquent friend said, "You're asking for help for Gretchen, not you."  If I somehow raise more than Gretchen's expenses (which don't include end of life and post-chemo vet visits), I will apply them to Monkey's extensive bills.

Thank you so much.  I really appreciate your support.
