Hi my name is Michaela and I’m the daughter of Gregory Waldmiller.

I created a GoFundMe to help my parents out with medical costs and other related expenses. Many of you know that Greg was diagnosed with bladder cancer in October 2020. While his treatment for that has been going well, he unfortunately now has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) on January 13th, 2023. This leukemia is unrelated to his bladder cancer. AML only accounts for 1.1% of all cancers in the U.S. He has been admitted to Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Hospital since January 9th. His first day of chemotherapy (Vyxeos) was January 14th. He will receive two more rounds of chemotherapy and then will be watched closely until we find out if the treatment has worked, which will be around the middle to end of February. For the duration of his treatment, Greg has to stay inpatient at Smilow. Everyday my mother, Barbara, drives an hour from their home in Brookfield to be with him.

A little about the patient: Greg is 68 years old and is the best dad a girl could ask for. Greg has been with the Brookfield Police Department for 45 years and also worked for the CT Dept of Motor Vehicles for 11 years. He is a wonderful dad to Matt, Brandon, TJ, and I and the best grandfather to Brooklyn, Adeline, Leilani, Jada, and Jaeyce. Greg is the type of guy who goes out every snowstorm and helps snowblow all the driveways in the neighborhood.

I am hoping to raise money for my family to help with all the medical bills that will be incurred from his ongoing treatment for his bladder cancer and now leukemia. This money will also benefit my mother who commutes here daily. All money goes directly into my parents account.
