***Update 3/11/25: Greg is currently residing at a long term acute care facility (Christus Mother Frances) in Tyler, Texas. He has been ill and hospitalized since September 1st, 2024.
In his time in hospitalization he has undergone a plethora of complications (necrotizing pancreatitis, a pulmonary embolism, pneumonia, bacterial infections, a heart attack, being put under a ventilator due to fluid buildup in his lungs, a GI bleed, and more). He was recently diagnosed with stage 1 tonsicular cancer which will not be treated until Greg has been discharged from his LTAC.
Greg is a fighter and has persevered through every obstacle thrown his way. He has been stable for a few months and is now participating in physical therapy to get back on his feet (due to his medical complications he was bedridden) and he is making progress day by day.
We are so thankful Dad is still with us and we are so thankful for his willingness to fight through this long road ahead of him. He is the strongest man I know.
However, my family is struggling. For the past half a year my mother has been paying bills for two off of one income. Bills have been piling up and when my dad is discharged their finances will be further burdened with months medical expenses demanding to be paid.
If you are able to contribute monetarily or even share with your friends, please do. Our family is so grateful for the support we have received this far❤️***
Hello friends and family! My dad, Greg Clifton, was admitted to UT Tyler for a cholecystectomy, a clogged bile duct, and acute pancreatitis on September 1 and has been in the hospital since due to several health complications.
Since his admittance he has experienced renal failure, respiratory failure, right ventricular dilation (enlarged heart), two superficial pulmonary embolisms in his lungs, pneumonia, and episodes of atrial fibrillation. Most of these issues have been treated in ICU, in which he spent a week and a half.
Greg spent several more weeks in the hospital once he was discharged from the ICU, one of his main medical issues being a necrotizing pancreas. He has had 6 procedures to remove dead tissue.
While receiving his most recent procedure, Greg went into respiratory distress and had some heart issues. Due to these issues, he spent one night in intermediate care for monitoring.
He was moved back down to a regular room after that and was monitored for medical stability for a few more days.
On Thursday, Greg was finally discharged from the hospital and was transferred to UT Tyler Health Rehabilitation Hospital. He is now doing physical and occupational rehabilitation 5-7 days a week, and working SO HARD! His road to recovery will be a long and difficult one, but he is a fighter!
He will still have many hospital visits down the road to continue removing dead tissue from his pancreas, and for other medical monitoring.
Greg and his wife, Pam, who has been faithful by his side in his medical journey, have 6 children residing in various areas in Texas. Each child has worked very hard to visit him and be with family through this difficult time.
Any contribution toward Greg’s cause will be greatly appreciated. Monetary gifts will first and foremost go toward medical bills, home, and utility bills. The secondary expenses covered will include travel/housing expenses for Greg’s family.
For further information contact Kate Clifton or Pam Clifton on Facebook. Thank you so much for reading about Greg’s journey and all the well wishes and prayers our family has received! Also, thank you in advance for any contributions made!
Much love,
The Clifton Family
