Greg's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Greg’s life unexpectedly changed on the first day of this new year when an MRI revealed he had a large mass in his brain that caused swelling across two frontal lobes.
Unfortunately, the tumor and dramatic brain swelling had caused headaches, cognitive problems, and personality changes that went unnoticed for some time. By the grace of God, and an excellent Neuro surgeon, the tumor was safely removed 3 days after it was discovered via a bifrontal craniotomy.
While Greg is grateful to be alive, his journey to full recovery has only just begun. Pathology of the mass revealed a grade III Meningioma, an aggressive tumor with high risk of regrowth. He will need to travel to Penn daily for special radiation for 6 weeks.
Thankfully, Greg’s health insurance helps cover some of the costs of the surgery, the 7 day hospitalization, and continued care including home nurse visits, but a lot of patient responsibility remains, over ten thousand dollars. This will continue to accrue for his radiation and in home nurse visits.
Greg is unable to concentrate for more than a few short minutes at a time and he continues to experience intermittent short term memory loss and aphasia. He can not drive or tolerate loud noises. Greg will need continued therapy and he is unable to return to work in the near future.
Those who know Greg know him as a patient, fun-loving, and generous person, whose favorite thing to do is to entertain others by making them laugh or sharing a random fact. Please consider showing Greg and his family your love, support, and generosity as he begins his healing journey to full recovery, journey to being his old self, and journey to being the King of terrible dad jokes again.
*Funds raised throughout the fundraiser will be used for bills while Greg is out of work as well as medical expenses. Greg and Laura Harvey will be withdrawing the money directly.
